WHY MONORAIL?
--------------------

There are many reasons why monorails are being chosen as the preferred mode of transportation around the world.
The Monorail Society ©, run by president Kim Pedersen, describes these reasons in detail at

SUMMARY:
Safety – This is the most important factor. Monorails are elevated above the street, leaving no possibility of a traffic accident. The nature of a monorail’s design is such that the train can not derail at any point.
Reliability – Monorails around the world carry an amazing track record of being on time and transporting a large of amount of passengers consistently.

Speed – With zero traffic to deal with, a monorail moves quickly and quietly overhead, bypassing rush hour traffic.
Nature’s Fury – Not that Fresno has dramatic weather changes, but if there were: Snow? No problem. Rain? No problem. Tropical Storms? No problem. Earthquakes? No problem. Floods? No problem.

Environment – Monorails have historically been looking towards the future as far as power. Electrically powered, monorail trains produce zero pollution and have long been championed by the EPA.

Cost – The proposed cost per mile for the Fresno Area Sky Train is less than light rail and has the potential to become a profitable entity.
